NFL Awards: Tom Brady named 2017 NFL MVP
The inevitable has happened, Tom Brady has been named the MVP of the NFL.
After yet another stellar season at the ripe old age of 40, Tom Brady has won his third NFL MVP award. His two previous awards came in 2007 and 2010. Yet still, in his 18th year in the league and at the age of 40, Brady is the most valuable player. Only rivaled by Todd Gurley and Carson Wentz (before he tore his ACL), Brady had a relatively easy journey to the award.
This season, Brady threw for 4,577 yards in the regular season, the fifth highest total of his career. This doesn’t include the 627 yards he has thrown for in the two playoff games leading to the Super Bowl. That means, in18 games, Brady has accumulated 5,204 yards, an absurd total. In addition, his 66.3 completion percentage in the regular season is the third highest mark of his career. To be putting up some of the best numbers of his career at the age of 40, Brady undoubtedly deserves the award.
Obviously, this decision does not come without controversy. Many think Gurley or even Antonio Brown deserved the award more than Brady, but Brady is the epitome of the award. He is the Patriots, without a shadow of a doubt. Without him, the Patriots would not be the dynasty fans have become accustomed to. Brown and Gurley are terrific players, but they did not single-handedly carry their respective teams. Brady, on the other hand, has been the best player on the Patriots roster throughout his entire career, especially this season.

This may not be the only award Brady earns this weekend, with the Super Bowl coming up tomorrow, Brady could be heading home with some more silverware. Super Bowl MVP is on the docket if he has an extraordinary game against the Eagles. But for now, Brady is the much deserving MVP.
