This Is Us will deliver their most emotional episode yet as viewers will finally see the episode that Jack dies in after the Super Bowl on Sunday.
This is the episode that will begin to answer all of your questions about how Jack Pearson died on This Is Us. The clues have been mounting ever since the season 2 premiere when a burned Pearson family home stood as Rebecca drove home with Jack’s belongings and let out a scream all of us could feel. From there, the moments began to line up with Kevin injuring his leg, Kate getting her dog, Randall dating a redhead and that lingering shot of the smoke detector without any batteries.
The most recent episode saw how the fire started. It was a faulty switch on an old Crock-pot that was a gift to young Jack and Rebecca when they moved into the neighborhood. It was out for the Super Bowl party that never really came to fruition as the kids all had their own things going on so there was no big family fun night. As Jack cleaned up for the night, he turned the slow cooker off and was ready to go to bed. That’s when the blaze started as it spread from the kitchen to the living room and quickly throughout the Pearson home.
We know what’s going to happen. We don’t know exactly how it’s going to happen, but we know this is going to be the end for Jack. His wife and his children all make it out alive, but their lives will never be the same again after what happens on Super Bowl Sunday.
Oddly enough, the synopsis for “Super Bowl Sunday” makes no mention of Jack and the blaze. Rather it actually sounds pleasant, but we know it’ll be anything but that.

This Is Us airs on NBC after the Super Bowl. There is no specific time, but it’ll start around 10:15 p.m. ET. And make sure you set your DVR for extra time just in case the game runs long so your recording doesn’t cut off the ending or any part of the episode for that matter.
