Verona enter the weekend 19th in Serie A, three points behind Crotone for the final safety spot. On Sunday, Verona host Roma at Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium. Roma are battling for the final Champions League spot but trail Inter Milan by three points.
Despite sitting second from bottom, Verona scored a stunning 4-1 victory over Fiorentina last weekend. Moise Kean scored twice against Fiorentina, giving him a team-leading four goals this season. Verona have struggled at home this season, winning only two games and picking up seven points in 11 home games. Defensively, Fabio Pecchia’s side have struggled to keep the ball out of their net. Only Benevento have allowed more goals than the 45 Verona have conceded.
Roma have struggled in their last five games, losing three of their last five games and picking up only two games. After weeks of rumors, Roma sold Emerson to Chelsea but were able to hold onto Edin Dzeko, who leads the club with 10 goals this season. While Roma have scored the seventh most goals this season, they have been one of the better defensive teams, allowing only 17 goals. Brazilian keeper Alisson has arguably been the best keeper in Serie A this season, while Konstantinos Manolas continues to be one of the better center-backs, organizing Roma’s backline.
