Cleveland Cavaliers fans have been calling for Tyronn Lue’s job but the team is adamant he is still the man for the job.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been a mess this year and were blown out 120-88 by a depleted Houston Rockets team without starter Trevor Ariza or sixth-man Eric Gordon.

Currently, the Cavs are in third place in the Eastern Conference with a 30-21 record, seven games out of the first place. After three straight NBA Finals appearances, fans are panicking.

Fans and media members want to point to a scapegoat to blame for all the dysfunction. In the past, David Blatt and Kevin Love had that honor and the torch has now been passed to coach Tyronn Lue.

But he is safe, for now, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN who reported the Cavaliers “are not firing their head coach.”

It is in the team’s best interest to part ways with Lue. Some would argue he is an accomplished coach with championship experience, but others disagree. He is a ‘yes man’ coach and does everything he can to appease LeBron James, who has responded well to tough coaching.

But it goes beyond Lue. The entire Cavaliers organization does whatever it can to make James happy, and rightfully so. This doesn’t come without risk, however. The team has the oldest average age in the league and is set up for years of losing if LeBron leaves this offseason when he is an unrestricted free agent.

Hiring a new coach could spark new life within this team. Perhaps it would be someone who could command leadership over the team. Their defense has been horrendous and it starts with the head coach. Who should the Cavs replace him with? There isn’t an obvious answer but Cleveland’s front office should be looking into options to replace him.
