Eagles win Super Bowl 52 in thrilling fashion
The Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl LII, giving the franchise its first title since 1960. Nick Foles shocked the world, winning the MVP award.
The ball spiraled downward from the heavens, Rob Gronkowski sandwiched between a group of Eagles’ defenders. The All-Pro New England Patriots tight end leaped for the ball but couldn’t come up with it, the ball falling harmlessly to the ground.
Upon that impact, the Eagles won their first Super Bowl, winning 41-33 in epic fashion. Philadelphia was able to survive a Patriots offense that didn’t punt once, and that saw Tom Brady throw for 505 yards. The Eagles were able to come up with the big plays, ranging from Nick Foles throwing for 373 yards and three touchdowns, along with catching one in the second quarter on a fourth-quarter gamble.
Then there was the Brandon Graham strip-sack, the only time that Philadelphia was able to bring down Brady. In the end, it all added up to the third consecutive postseason upset victory for the Eagles, who were all but counted out when Carson Wentz saw his MVP-caliber season end prematurely with a torn ACL in early December.
In the end, it was Foles, the Super Bowl MVP, beating out the regular season’s MVP in a game of can-you-top-this. With both defenses being run over for a majority of the night, it was one magnificent throw after the next, finally ending with Philadelphia dancing in the confetti.
