Juventus have been on a torrid pace this season, keeping pace with league leaders Napoli over the past few months as they to capture a seventh straight Scudetto this spring. Just a point behind Napoli, Juventus have found a way to win each week despite not being as strong as they have been in recent years.
Under coach Massimiliano Allegri, Juventus have fluctuated from a 4-2-3-1 formation to, more recently, a 4-3-3 setup. Under this new formation, Sami Khedira has a more central role, with the attack featuring Gonzalo Higuain up top with Douglas Costa and Mario Mandzukic on the wings.
The updated tactics are a result of an injury to the team’s top scorer, Paulo Dybala, who continues to recover from a hamstring injury and is set to return later this month in time for the Champions League. Filling the void in Dybala’s absence has been the in-form Mandzukic. The Croatian striker has seven goals and three assists in all competitions this season. Juve have also been very strong at home, compiling a 9-1-1 record this season.
Sassuolo, meanwhile, have the least amount of foreigners on their roster of any Serie A side, just five, and have struggled for much of the season. The team, currently in 14th place, are dangerously close to the relegation zone and a loss to Juventus on Sunday would hurt their chances of safety. In 11 away games this season, Sassuolo have only been unable to win a paltry four times. They haven’t won a match since Dec. 23, a 1-0 victory against Inter Milan.

The Bianconeri have not been in first place since September, after they defeated Sassuolo 3-1. Since then, they’ve either been in second or third place, but never wavering in their efforts to stay in the title hunt. They’ll need another victory, coupled with a Napoli loss at Benevento, in order to rise to the top.
