2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Rosen goes to Broncos
By Brad Weiss
During the 2017 NFL season, the Denver Broncos trotted out three different starting quarterbacks. Going forward, the organization would like nothing more than to find that franchise guy they know can lead the team back to the top of the AFC West. While guys like Brock Osweiler and Trevor Siemian are likely gone next season, the team is likely to keep Paxton Lynch around, the player they drafted in the first round back in 2016.
Whether or not Lynch stays is irrelevant, as the team is likely to make a move for a signal-caller this offseason. Kirk Cousins is suddenly available after the Washington Redskins traded for Alex Smith, and the Broncos appear to be big players in the Cousins Sweepstakes. If they do decide to draft a quarterback instead of paying big money for Cousins, they might be able to add Josh Rosen with the No. 5 overall pick.
There are a lot of solid quarterbacks in this draft class, and some believe that Rosen is the best of the bunch. While that will be debated heavily from now until April, there is no doubt that he has first round talent. John Elway was once the franchise quarterback of the Broncos, and you can believe that he is going to go through every avenue possible to make sure this team is set at the position for the foreseeable future.
