Nick Foles: Super Bowl 52 postgame quotes

Winning quarterback Nick Foles reflects on the Eagles Super Bowl in the postgame press conference.

From loitering as a backup to leading a playoff campaign as starting quarterback to the Philadelphia Eagles first Super Bowl appearance in 13 years and first win ever, Nick Foles has had quite the year.

When Carson Wentz was injured in December, expectations for Foles were low, to say the least. But over Philly’s final three regular games, he threw for 439 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions, adding 598 yards, three touchdowns and no picks in the playoffs. In the Super Bowl, he threw for 373 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception and kept a Patriots comeback at bay.

Foles came through once again for the Eagles and now he’s a Super Bowl champion. And while his future in Philly is up in the air, he’s now locked in as something close to a diety in the city.

Here’s what Foles had to say in his postgame press conference.

About the pressure:

"I felt calm. We have such a great group of guys. Such a great coaching staff. We felt confident coming in and we just went out there and played football. We played this game since we were little kids, we’ve dreamed about this moment. There’s plenty of kids watching this game, dreaming about this moment and someday will be here. And to be here with my daughter, my wife, my teammates, this city."

Later on the podium, he added, “The big thing that helped me was knowing that I didn’t have to go out and be Superman.”

On being a part of the Eagles:

"To be a part of Philadelphia Eagles’ first championship…we’ve all waited a long time to be in this position to be world champions. The people who bleed green, the people of Philadelphia, the people across the nation that support the Eagles have waited a long time…being drafted to Philadelphia and being fortunate enough to come back and be part of this team, to be a part of this puzzle, it’s a long time coming, and I know there’s going to be a lot of celebrating tonight."
