If the New England Patriots beat the Philadelphia Eagles, will quarterback Tom Brady retire or continue playing in 2018? We discuss the issue.
Tom Brady is trying to win his sixth Super Bowl on Sunday against the Eagles, putting him two rings clear of any other quarterback in league history. At 40 years old, Brady is already the greatest quarterback of all time in the eyes of many, but perhaps he’s not done.
The California native has continuously said that he wants to play deep into his 40s. Looking at his current performance, why not? Brady won his third Most Valuable Player award on Saturday night after throwing for a league-high 4,577 yards. It’s the third time in his career that Brady led the league in passing yardage.
Since being drafted 199th overall in the 2000 NFL Draft, Brady has reached 13 Pro Bowls, eight Super Bowls and been named a First or Second-Team All-Pro five times. Brady has also been named the league’s Offensive Player of the Year twice and the Comeback Player of the Year back in 2009, one year removed from tearing his ACL.

All told, despite an ESPN report that Brady and head coach Bill Belichick could retire after the Super Bowl, it’s unlikely the golden boy is going anywhere. Brady still has one year and $22 million left on his deal, another reason for him to come back.
The Patriots are the odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl once more in the 2018-19 season, largely because Brady is expected back at the helm for another run.
