The NFL season has come to a close, and as we look towards next season, teams are already plotting their course for dominance in 2018.
And just like that, the Philadelphia Eagles are the kings of the NFL. On Sunday night, the Eagles beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII, thanks to an incredible effort from former backup quarterback Nick Foles. Foles was named the game’s Most Valuable Player, and rightfully so, as he picked apart the New England defense enroute to the organization’s first Super Bowl victory.
Staying with the Eagles, there is no definitive answer as to who will be under center for the team when they open up the 2018 NFL season. Head coach Doug Pederson was non-committal about his starter for next season, as nobody expected Nick Foles would play at such a high level this postseason. Carson Wentz is a once-in-a-generation talent at the quarterback position, so the good money is on him being under center, if he is healthy.
The Patriots not only lost their Super Bowl matchup against the Eagles, but they then lost both of their coordinators. Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is headed to the Motor City, as he will take over as the head coach of the Detroit Lions. Patricia will be getting his first taste of being a head coach, and he is a hot commodity, as he has been a disciple of Patriots head coach Bill Belichick for the team’s last three Super Bowl wins.
Replacing Patricia in New England will be Greg Schiano, who was recently the defensive coordinator for the Ohio State Buckeyes. It has been a whirlwind offseason for Schiano, who looked to get the head coaching job at the University of Tennessee, before fans cost him his employment. He has found a soft landing spot with the Patriots, who definitely need his help, after looking like swiss cheese during the team Super Bowl loss on Sunday.

On the other side of the ball, offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is also head out of New England, as he signed to be the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. McDaniels will be making his second stint as an NFL head coach, with his last gig coming back in 2009, when he was the man in charge of the Denver Broncos. He is a five-time Super Bowl champion coach for the Patriots, and the Colts are hoping he brings some of that magic with him to Indy.
