The 2018 30-team NBA mega-trade that solves nothing and makes everyone mad
By Ian Levy
Milwaukee Bucks
Sending out: Jabari Parker (LAC), John Henson (LAC), 2020 first-round pick (MIA)
Bringing in: DeAndre Jordan
This is potentially a huge risk for the Milwaukee Bucks. Parker looked like a future star before tearing his ACL last season, but that was his second major knee surgery since entering the NBA and it might be worth selling high (relatively) in case the injuries become a consistent concern. This deal also clears Henson’s deal off their cap and requires them to give up a future first as well.
In return the Bucks get one of the best centers in the league. Jordan is a beast on the glass in transition and a very strong rim protector. His lack of range is concerning in certain situations but the Bucks have acquired enough shooters at other positions that they can spot-up three serious outside threats while Jordan and Giannis Antetokounmpo run pick-and-rolls in the middle of the floor.
The Bucks have been on fire since firing Jason Kidd and moderating their aggressive defensive scheme. Jordan could help sustain that growth and even fuel more improvements. His addition raises the ceiling on the Bucks and makes them a potential challenger for the rest of the teams at the top of the Eastern Conference.
