NBA Power Rankings: Here comes the trade deadline
By Daniel Lewis
The Heat started the week off with a solid win over the Dallas Mavericks, rallying behind Hassan Whiteside for a 95-88 win on Monday. They weren’t able to knock off LeBron James and the Cavaliers in the next game, losing 91-89 in a game where the final minute seemed to last an hour due to timeouts and reviews. James made a heady defensive play on the final possession, cutting off James Johnson’s dribble and causing the forward to dribble out the clock before he could get a shot attempt off.
The Heat played with great energy against the 76ers, but couldn’t score efficiently in a 103-97 loss. Miami had 16 offensive rebounds, with Justise Winslow, Kelly Olynyk and Bam Adebayo combining for 12 boards off the bench, but they shot just 39 percent from the floor as a team on 87 field goal attempts. Their losing streak extended to three games, and five of their last seven, with a 111-107 loss to the Blake Griffin-lead Pistons on Saturday.
