Winter Olympics Pyeongchang: When is the Closing Ceremony?

The Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony will take place on February 25 at Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium at 20:00 KST / 6:00 a.m. ET.

The 2018 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony officially takes place at 20:00 KST / 6:00 a.m. ET on Feb. 25, 2018. A live stream of the Closing Ceremony from Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium in Pyeongchang, South Korea will be available at NBCOlympics.com, the official PyeongChang 2018 Youtube Channel and the NBC Sports app. NBC will air the Closing Ceremony on prime time television in the United States at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT. The duration of the 2018 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony runs from 8:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. PT on NBC’s televised broadcast.

Musical artists performing at the Closing Ceremony include Korean-American singers MILCK, who will be performing the song Quiet, and Ailee, who will be performing I will go to you like the first snow. Singer-songwriter Seungri will be performing the South Korean National Anthem at the Closing Ceremony, and a Korean Choir will perform the Olympic Hymm. The Greek National Anthem will have an instrumental version played and the Chinese Youth Choir will perform the People’s Republic of China National Anthem.

The handover of the Olympic flag will see the mayor of Pyeongchang Seok-Rae Lee, give the flag to IOC President Thomas Bach, who will then hand it over to the mayor of Beijing, Chen Jining. The 2022 Winter Olympics will take place in Beijing, China following the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan in 2020.

Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium, hosts the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies in March. Officially known as the XII Paralympic Winter Games, the Opening Ceremony will take place on March 9 and the Closing Ceremony will take place on March 18.

Future Host Cities for the Olympic Games

This year marks the first time South Korea has hosted the winter games, Seoul previously hosted the Summer Olympics in 1988. That’s a 30-year difference, the Olympics are a highly sought after spectacle the world over with multiple countries/cities vying for an opportunity to host.

The 2024 Summer Olympics will be hosted by Paris, France and the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California back stateside. The 2026 Winter Olympic Games will have a host city chosen in Milan, Italy at 134th IOC Session in September 2019 by the International Olympic Committee.
