It took almost two decades for CBS to pull it off, but here we are: the first ever season of Big Brother: Celebrity Edition. 11 celebrities of varying levels of reality television and competition fame have already entered the Big Brother house, with the results of the first few days’ worth of filming airing later tonight.
Participating in Big Brother: Celebrity Edition is 2015 Miss Universe runner-up Ariadna Gutiérrez, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville, UFC Hall-of-Famer Chuck Liddell, actor/musician James Maslow, actress Keshia Knight Pulliam, actress Marissa Jaret Winokur, musician Mark McGrath, former NBA player Metta World Peace, TV personality Omarosa Manigault, TV host Ross Mathews and actress Shannon Elizabeth.
Big Brother: Celebrity Edition will still incorporate the basic elements of the reality competition, including Head of Household competitions, putting players on the block for eviction, Power of Veto competitions and living in a house with dozens of microphones and cameras live recording everything the players do for several weeks.
The biggest difference between Big Brother: Celebrity Edition and a regular version of the show is the runtime. This season will air just 13 episodes between Feb. 7 and Feb. 25, including several two-hour blocks and a quicker turnaround on evictions. It will serve as a sped-up version of the regular game, meaning the strategic masterminds that slowly manipulate the play of the entire house don’t have the same time allotment required to pull the strings.
Once the Big Brother: Celebrity Edition live stream airs later tonight, the live feeds will be opened to those with CBS All Access subscriptions, allowing viewers to keep up with the celebrities as they talk game, their lives and engage in wacky shenanigans for the viewing audience. It’s a near-essential part of the viewing experience, especially if you are interested in knowing the full picture of the season.
