Kirby Smart’s Georiga Bulldogs came close to winning a National Championship, but how does their future look after National Signing Day 2018?

The Georgia Bulldogs were one half away from winning the National Championship this past season. Despite their Week 1 starting quarterback going down almost immediately, Kirby Smart’s team boasted an explosive offense and suffocating defense that was truly one of the most impressive overall groups in the country. And to get back there, he needs to keep things that way with his recruiting.

Looking at the Georgia 2018 recruiting class, he’s undoubtedly on his way to doing just that. That, of course, starts at the top with Justin Fields. Fields is the No. 1-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the country and the second-overall prospect in the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. He figures to compete for the job right away with Jake Fromm, simply because he’s that talented.

It doesn’t stop there for the Bulldogs, either. Zamir White, the nation’s No. 1 running back recruit, is also taking his talents to Athens to look to be the next in a long line of stars at the position for this program.

Meanwhile, White will have some stars to run behind as Georgia is bringing in the beef. Offensive tackle Cade Mays and offensive guard Trey Hill are both the third-ranked players at their position in this class. And, as fate would have it, they’re also both coming to Athens to grade the road for the Bulldogs offense.

There’s no questioning what the Bulldogs are bringing in at the top of their recruiting class. But let’s look deeper at the rest of the 2018 Georgia football recruiting class.

Smart has already obviously been immensely successful as a recruiter in his short time with the Bulldogs. However, this is his Mona Lisa with Georgia to this point. He has one of the top classes in the country by any measure. With a class like this, their run to the title this past season will only be the first of many.
