LeBron’s OT buzzer-beater was a thing of beauty
The Cleveland Cavaliers edged the Minnesota Timberwolves in overtime on Wednesday night thanks to a beautiful fadeaway buzzer-beater from LeBron James.
Not much, on or off the court, has gone right for the Cleveland Cavaliers as of late.
On Wednesday night, the Cavs found themselves in a tight matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves. There were multiple lead changes throughout the game, so it came as no surprise that the fans in attendance at the Quicken Loans Arena were treated to overtime.
The teams were tied at 138 with exactly one second left on the clock. The Cavs took the ball out on the other side of half court. LeBron James posted up on Jimmy Butler at his own free throw line. And then, well, just take a look:
Bang. James executed a perfect fadeaway jumper. Butler did his best to defend it, but there was nothing he could do but turn and watch the net splash as the buzzer sounded. The King stay the King.
It topped off a monster game from LeBron. He finished with a triple-double, compiling 37 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds. He finished 16-of-22 from the field and made five of his seven three-point attempts. Strangely enough, James didn’t score a single point from the free throw line.
Another positive for the Cavs was that everyone else on the team pitched in for the much needed win: all five Cleveland starters scored double digits, including 20 points from J.R. Smith (6-for-11 from three) and 17 from Tristan Thompson. Kyle Korver and Jeff Green added 13 and 14 off the bench, respectively.

The Cavaliers currently sit in third place in Eastern Conference, six games off second-place Toronto and seven off leaders Boston. It’s hard to give one game in a 82-game schedule much importance, but, as the Cavs try to find their footing during a tough stretch, pulling out this win can only help.
