Tom Herman clearly has the Texas Longhorns heading in a positive direction, and that only seems more the case looking at their 2018 recruiting class.

Right out of the gate this past season, it looked like the same old disappointment for the Texas Longhorns even with Tom Herman. However, the new head coach proved that he’s on the verge of turning things around in a major way as the season went on. Their record might not totally show it, but they are on the rise. And the recruiting trail only strengthens that belief.

If there’s been one problem that’s been glaring with Texas in their recent down years, it’s been their defense. However, they are clearly looking to rectify that with the amount of talent that they are bringing in on that side of the ball in this recruiting class.

Caden Sterns and BJ Foster are the No. 1 and 3 safety prospects in the entire class according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings and both will be suiting up for the Longhorns. Meanwhile, they also are bringing in the No. 6 cornerback in the class in Jalen Green. And just so the offense isn’t left out, they have another big weapon coming in with Brennan Eagles, the 10th best wideout in the class.

The talent doesn’t stop there for the Longhorns. In fact, they have one of the deepest classes in the entire country. Take a look at the entire 2018 Texas recruiting class below:

With a recruiting class like this, Herman could finally be the man to return the Texas Longhorns program to its former glory. This is the type of class that you can only classify as a game-changer. If things pan out as they should with even half of these players, we’ll be seeing burnt orange in the College Football Playoff mix soon enough.

Grade: A+
