The more I look at this draft, the more I think a big makes sense for Phoenix with their own pick, considering how big a need it is for them and how many productive bigs will be available.

Bamba fills so many skill set needs for this team. In his most recent game against Trae Young and Oklahoma, what stuck out must to me was his developed understanding of how exactly to use his physical advantages to create value for the Longhorns.

Early in the season, Bamba played with less control. He barreled through defenders fighting for offensive rebounds and looked out of place on offense from time to time. There are still very reasonable concerns about his motor and how much it is a problem versus how much of his patience is actual nuance. I see more positivity in it, because Bamba can still duck in for a slam or block whenever it’s needed.

Texas beat Oklahoma, and Bamba was a big reason why. Though his team struggled to defend Young and the Sooners in transition to open the game, anything that came his way in the halfcourt clanked out. He alters or blocks just about every paint shot attempt, and his offense is coming along.

The Suns need a big center like Bamba.
