5 reasons USA Hockey will win Olympic Gold

4. Time to shine for young stars
Team USA has raided a few college rosters to fill its Olympic side. Harvard’s Ryan Donato, Boston’s Jordan Greenway and the University of Denver’s Troy Terry are all in the mix, as well as Will Borgen, from St. Cloud State University.
If they earn a place in the line-up, all four players will have an unprecedented opportunity. Most college players get less exposure than those in major junior. But these players will be playing on the greatest stage.
Jordan Greenway has already made headlines recently. He is the first African-American player ever to be selected for the U.S. men’s Olympic hockey team. The 6-foot-6 bruiser is a Minnesota Wild draftee, and will now have a chance to impress the Wild coaches.
Another familiar name will be Anaheim Ducks prospect Troy Terry. The 20-year-old is second in the Denver scoring charts this season. But he may be better known for his shootout heroics against Russia last year. Terry scored three shootout goals to propel the American youngsters to the World Junior Championship final.
The youngster was ice cool under pressure and will hope to replicate the feat for the senior side. He and his fellow university stars could provide a major boost to Team USA in PyeongChang.
