Olympics live stream: Watch men’s figure skating short program team event online
The 2018 Winter Olympics kick off early with figure skating. Here’s what you need to know to watch the men’s short program team figure skating online.
Get the kiss and cry ready because figure skating is here and we’re kicking things off with the men’s short program on Feb. 8. The timing is a little confusing because this is the day before the Opening Ceremony, but a few sports start early in order to finish competition on time.
This is the synopsis of the Feb. 8 figure skating event:
"Figure skating’s team competition begins with the men’s short programs. Top contenders include the United States, the athletes representing OAR (Olympic Athlete(s) from Russia) and Canada."
This will be your first chance to see Team USA in action as the men’s figure skating team takes the ice. Representing the men’s team for Team USA are Nathan Chen, Adam Rippon and Vincent Zhou. Chen is widely known for his grace on the ice, something he attributes to a childhood spent learning ballet. Ballet, he says, is also what helps him to land his impressive quad jumps.
Chen and Rippon took to the ice in South Korea for practice on Tuesday and Rippon noted that he’s grateful for the opportunity to be there, but he adds that “it feels so right.”

The men will perform in the team events on Thursday and Sunday evenings; team medals are awarded on Sunday night. The individual men’s figure skating competition begins on Thursday, Feb. 15 with the medal ceremony taking place on Feb. 17. The pressure is on Team USA but these Olympic athletes know full well how to deal with pressure.
