Heading into the wee hours of February 8, everything was quiet on the NBA front. For much of the morning, not a stir came from NBA front offices and it seemed as if it would shape out to be a regular Thursday — and a rather uneventful trade deadline day. Alas, the NBA world was turned upside down as Woj Bomb‘s were dropping left and right just hours before the official deadline.
Throughout the day, surprising moves went through left and right. Meanwhile, possible trades that have been discussed for months fell through the cracks. Even though multiple teams made several moves, the Cavaliers seem to be the only team with a completely new look. Elsewhere, it’s business as usual all over the league. Multiple teams set themselves up for immediate success, others began building for the future. Regardless, nearly every franchise took a slice of the trade deadline pie.
On other fronts, yet another Team LeBron player went down with a season ending injury. The league was forced to step in to replace another All-Star. A few marquee matchups ended in surprising results and the Western Conference race is heating up. Now with the trade deadline behind us, NBA fans have the All-Star game and contract buyouts to look forward to before a hectic second half of the season.
