2017 Stats – 161 targets, 112 receptions, 987 yards, 9 touchdowns

One thing seems pretty certain at this point and that’s Jarvis Landry will not return to the Miami Dolphins in 2018. He wants to be paid in a similar range as Packers receiver Davante Adams which would be over $50 million over four years. The Dolphins seem unmotivated to pay Landry that type of money and the biggest question is how teams view Landry and what he is capable of.

The biggest knock on Landry at this point in his career is he’s nothing more than a slot receiver. Granted, he’s extremely gifted at being that style of player as he’s eclipsed 84 receptions all four years of his career and has more than 950 yards in three of four. Teams are still going to be a little concerned to shell out the type of money Landry wants given his lack of track record being anything other than a slot receiver.

Landry set a career low this past season in yards per reception at 8.8. Can some of that be chalked up to spotty quarterback play with Jay Cutler for much of that season? Sure, but Landry has only been over 10.5 yards per reception once. That doesn’t suggest explosiveness a number one needs. He’s a very good player with a lower ceiling than the next two players.
