The Olympic curling mixed doubles round robin tournament continues. Here’s how you can watch session 5 online.
Curling has the unique distinction of being the one Winter Olympic event to occur every single day of the tournament. For Day 3 — Saturday in Pyeongchang, Friday in America — we have sessions 5 and 6 of the mixed doubles round robin tournament. Session 5 kicks off at 9:05 a.m. KT, which is the primetime hour of 6:05 p.m. Friday ET.
The mixed doubles tournament is new to the Olympics and consists of teams of two (one man, one woman) competing in eight ends. (An end is curling-speak for an inning.) This year’s Olympic mixed doubles field includes China, USA, Norway, Finland, Canada, Switzerland, Korea and Olympic Athletes of Russia. (Russian athletes must compete under the Olympic flag due to the fact Russia was banned from the Olympics for doping.)
The matchups for session 5 of the mixed doubles round robin are:
- China vs. USA
- Norway vs. Finland
- Canada vs. Switzerland
- Korea vs. Olympic Athletes of Russia

Canada is a perpetual curling favorite, but Switzerland, Russia and China are the frontrunners to medal in Pyeongchang, largely on account of their performances at the 2017 World Championships. The Friday evening session will see the favorites playing the field, presumably hoping to gain valuable wins when its time to be compared to their competition.
NBC will broadcast all four games as they’re played simultaneously. It’s unclear if there will be match-specific broadcasts for those looking for uninterrupted coverage.
