Start your day with the women’s 3000-meter race in Olympic speedskating. Here’s how you can watch online.
As far as early morning start times for Winter Olympics viewing, 6 a.m. ET is downright reasonable. It’s a full hour later than speedskating’s shorter-distance peer, the short track. And on Feb. 10, Olympic speedskating kicks things off with the women’s 3000m final, with medals awarded immediately after the race.
The NBC broadcast begins at 5:30 a.m. ET, but the race is expected to start around 6 a.m. As is usual for these things, the Olympics have scheduled the event for about two hours. Of course, the races themselves take but mere minutes, the time slot will no doubt start with qualifying heats before moving into the finals themselves.
The 3000m is the second longest distance after 5000m the women race in speedskating. Martina Sablikova of the Czech Republic is expected to take gold, with Claudia Pechstein of Germany and Antoinette de Jong of the Netherlands also medaling. (Hot tip: The Netherlands are wild good at speedskating. Expect to see them on the podium a lot.)
NBC will live stream the race online through their dedicated Olympic website and app, but you can also watch through FuboTV, a subscription service for cord-cutters who don’t have an NBC log-in to borrow. (There are even free trials. If you so choose, you can cash one in during the Olympics, but pick your start date and event week wisely.)
