Huddersfield and Bournemouth meet Sunday at John Smith’s Stadium in a game featuring two teams moving in opposite directions. Five straight losses have dropped Huddersfield from 11th in the Premier League table to the relegation zone. Bournemouth have picked up points in seven straight games to move from the relegation zone to ninth in the Premier League.
The Terriers have not won since Dec. 16, picking up only three points in their last eight games. The losing streak dropped Huddersfield to 19th in the Premier League but are just one point out of the safety zone. However, club’s that struggle to score and defend such as the Terriers are prime candidates to be relegated if they do not find a solution to both problems soon. After scoring only one goal in their last six games, Huddersfield are tied with Swansea for the fewest goals scored this season. Defensively, only Stoke have allowed more goals than the 46 that the Terriers have conceded.
Bournemouth came from behind to beat Stoke 2-1 in their last game. Since Boxing Day, when the Cherries were 18th in the table, Eddie Howe’s side have picked up 15 points in their seven games. While Bournemouth have better lately, they still struggle away from Dean Court. On the road this season, the Cherries have won three games and picked up 13 points in their 13 away games. Bournemouth are middle of the league this season in goals. Callum Wilson leads the club with seven goals, while last season leading scorer Joshua King has three goals, including one last week against Stoke.
