It’s now or never for mixed doubles Olympic curling teams. Here’s how to watch the tie-breaker game online by live stream.
The tie-breaker game on the morning of Monday, Feb. 12 at 5 a.m. ET will determine whether China or Norway goes to the semi-finals in the first-ever mixed doubles curling tournament at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
First, a refresher on how we got here.
Like the men’s and women’s tournaments, Olympic mixed doubles curling teams compete in a round-robin style tournament. Eight countries (USA, Canada, Switzerland, Olympic Athletes of Russia, Norway, Finland, China and Korea) face off in seven rounds, playing all of their competition once.
The teams with the four best records advance to the semi-finals, which start Tuesday, Feb. 13 in South Korea and the evening of Monday, Feb. 12 in America. If any team ties for one of the top four spots, a tie-breaker match is used to determine who moves into the semi-finals. The tie-breaker game is played at 5 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11.
The standings at the end of the round robin seven rounds are as follows:
- Canada (6)
- Switzerland (5)
- Olympic Athletes of Russia (4)
- China (4)
- Norway (4)
- Korea (2)
- USA (2)
- Finland (1)
Canada and Switzerland qualified automatically. Russia qualified despite being tied with China and Norway due to having the most wins against tied teams.
