Bradie Tennell made her Olympics debut at the 2018 Winter Olympics in the women’s team short program. We have the results and highlights for you right here.

The second night of the 2018 Winter Olympics figure skating included the women’s team short program competition. Representing Team USA was Bradie Tennell, making her Olympics figure skating debut.

Competition in the women’s team short program was fierce. Team USA skated at the end of the first group, with the biggest challengers coming in the second half of the program. As it happens, skating order played a huge role in the women’s team short program given most of the heavy-hitters coming late in the competition.

Bradie Tennell’s triumphant debut at the Olympics was perfect. She was flawless and elegant, recalling Michelle Kwan’s inspired performance at the 1998 Nagano games 20 years ago. She had one element under review, but in the end she earned a healthy 68.94.

France’s Mae Berenice Meite’s short program was set to a medley of Beyoncé songs, but a fall and several technical errors brought her score down to a 46.62. Points for skating to Beyoncé, though. Host country South Korea’s Choi Dabin, who idolizes Yuna Kim, skated a masterful performance that earned her a 65.73.

Italy’s Carolina Kostner’s performance, set to music by Celine Dion, earned her a 75.10, which knocked Tennell from 1st place. From there, Tennell bounced from second to third, and then to fourth.

The night came down to Yevgenia Medvedeva, representing Olympic Athletes from Russia. She skated last and delivered a stunning performance that rattled the scoreboard. Her 81.06 blew away Kostner, putting her in first place with the highest score ever.

Here are the final results for the women’s team short program event:

  1. Olympic Athletes from Russia – Yevgenia Medvedeva- 81.06
  2. Italy – Carolina Kostner – 75.10
  3. Canada – Kaetlyn Osmond – 71.38
  4. Japan – Satoko Miyahara – 68.95
  5. United States – Bradie Tennell – 68.94
  6. Korea – Choi Da-Bin – 65.73
  7. China – Li Xiangning – 58.62
  8. Germany – Nicole Schott – 55.32
  9. France – Mae Berenice Meite – 46.62
  10. Israel – Aimee Buchanan – 46.30

Team Canada remains in 1st place with 35 points.
