The 2018 Winter Olympics are underway, and just a day into the games five Olympic medals have already been issued.
In speed skating, the Netherlands had a clean sweep of the Ladiesā 3,000m, walking away with all three medals. The Netherlands also snagged a silver medal in the Menās 1,500m.
Norway has been equally dominant early on, but has yet to win a gold medal. Norway grabbed the silver and bronze medal in Ski Jumping,Ā Menās Normal Hill Individual. Norwayās Marte Olsbu won silver in theĀ Womenās 7.5km Sprint Biathlon. Norwayās Marit Bjoergen won silver Ladiesā 7.5km + 7.5km Skiathlon in cross country skiing.
Germany was the first country to win more than a single gold medal. Andreas Wellinger won gold inĀ Ski Jumping,Ā Menās Normal Hill Individual. Laura Dahlmeier won goldĀ Ā Womenās 7.5km Sprint Biathlon.
Swedenās Charlotte Kala won the gold medal in theĀ Ladiesā 7.5km + 7.5km Skiathlon in cross country skiing. Semen Elistratov became the first Olympic Athlete of Russia to win a medal, snagging bronze in Menās 1,500m in speed skating.
Koreaās Lim Hyojun was the first Korean to medal, winning goldĀ in Menās 1,500m in speed skating.
