College Basketball Rankings: Projected Top 25 for Week 15
With the 14th week of the college basketball season in the books, here’s what the AP Top 25 rankings might look like for Week 15.
Another week is in the books and we are that much closer to figuring out the NCAA Tournament field. In fact, the committee released it’s early preview of what the top-four seeds in each region would look like if the season ended today.
That’s a somewhat misleading statement, though, since the season isn’t ending today and plenty can happen before Selection Sunday. I get the allure, however. Fans like to get an idea of what the committee thinks of their favorite teams but the first release of the top-16 was more controversial than anything else.
Just take a look for yourself (no, this is not a projection from The Onion):
Luckily, this top-16 isn’t final and it’d be a shock to see it play out this way when Selection Sunday rolls around. The potential new No. 1 team in the country for Week 15, Michigan State, is listed as the No. 11 team in the early top-16. That can’t be right.
Week 14 had plenty of upsets as well. The top-three teams in college basketball all lost. First, it was St. John’s beating No. 1 Villanova and then Purdue lost two straight to Ohio State and at Michigan State. Lastly, Virginia lost at home, in overtime, to unranked Virginia Tech.
The Top 25 is ever-changing and Week 15’s poll will have a much different look.
