This is the second year of the NCAA Tournament selection committee revealing their top-16 seeds in February. In a wild season the top 16 teams may not be in the order you expect.

After good reviews last year on the NCAA selection committee revealing their top 16 teams in February they brought it back for another year. This season has been a wild one for sure, and nobody really knows what the seeds will look like outside of the four one-seeds.

Virginia, Villanova, Purdue and Xavier have all lost in the past week, but were still selected as the top-four seeds by the committee. Among the other 12 teams include Clemson, Tennessee and Ohio State.

This idea of seeing where the committee’s heads are at when it comes to seeding a few weeks before March isn’t a bad idea. Plus, it’s a little something extra for the fans. That being said, some of the selections aren’t bad, but where they’re seeded is the head scratcher.

Texas Tech has already beaten Kansas, and is ranked ahead of them in the AP poll, so it’s odd as to why they’re still seeded below the Jayhawks. Michigan State being a No. 3 seed has to be the most shocking. The Spartans just beat Purdue at home, and regardless of some of the losses they’ve suffered they still have wins against Purdue and North Carolina. So the Spartans being a three seed is definitely interesting.

All of this of course is subject to change, and with the way top-15 teams are losing this season they could change drastically between now and Selection Sunday. I doubt even at the pace this season is going we’ll have any idea how the seeding is going to play out.

The only thing we do know is that we actually know nothing. The last couple weeks of the regular season into tournament play is going to be a lot of fun.
