Is Danica Patrick in the Clash at Daytona? We let you know if Danica Patrick is racing in Sunday’s 2018 Clash.
With just hours to go before the Clash at Daytona, it’s time to answer one of NASCAR fans’ questions: Is Danica Patrick racing in The Clash?
Danica Patrick is eligible to compete in Sunday’s 2018 Clash at Daytona based on her past performance. But she will not be on the grid at Daytona International Speedway for the first event of the 2018 NASCAR season, because she does not have a full-time Sprint Cup Series ride.
She was released from her contract with Stewart-Haas Racing after the 2017 season, and after much debate about her future in the Monster Energy NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, announced that she would retire from full-time competition after one more shot at two of motorsports’ biggest races.
Danica Patrick will race in the 2018 Daytona 500 next weekend after having reached terms to drive the No. 7 for former sponsor GoDaddy. She’s still looking for a team to take her on in the 2018 Indianapolis 500 after talks with Chip Ganassi Racing fell through.
So is Danica Patrick racing in The Clash? No, she is not; she doesn’t have a car to drive even if she wanted to. But it also sounds like she’s focused on bigger and better things, like trying to end her NASCAR career with a Daytona 500 victory. So if you’re a Danica Patrick fan, just wait until next weekend.
