The fight for the team medal continues at the 2018 Winter Olympics in the ice dance team free dance. We have the results and highlights for you right here.

The Shib Sibs hits the ice for the final event in the ice dance free dance competition before the medals are awarded. After three days of competition, the field is set with Canada at the top and Olympic Athletes from Russia in 2nd place, with Team USA rounding out the top three in 3rd place. The pressure to maintain a spot on the podium was on.

With Italy in 4th place overall, Team Italy’s Anna Cappellini and Luca Lanotte had a lot of pressure on them. A solid skate on their part, along with a weak performance by the Shib Sibs, could have shaken up the scoreboard and give the Italians a shot at the medal. They delivered with a 107.00 to give them the lead.

The Olympic Athletes from Russia, Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitri Soloviev, were on the ice in their farewell tour. They came through for their country with a 110.43, which put them in the lead and guaranteed that Olympic Athletes from Russia would earn the silver medal.

Maia and Alex Shibutani, appearing for the second time at the Games, came into their dance knowing that they were working to keep Team USA on the podium with a 3rd place finish. They skated an inspired performance with clean lines and solid elements, including a bonus four twizzle sequences on top of the required two. They earned a 112.01, putting them in 1st place.

Team Canada featured Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, which was an interesting choice given that Team Canada had the gold medal buttoned up. They delivered with a score of 118.10
