It’s the final competition in the 2018 Winter Olympics team event before medals are awarded. Here’s what you need to watch men’s team free skate figure skating on TV and online.
The team figure skating event at the 2018 Winter Olympics comes to a thrilling conclusion following the men’s free skate, women’s free skate and the ice dance free skate prior to the medal ceremony.
After the second night of the team event, Team USA slipped from second place to thirrd place with 36 points behind Olympic Athletes from Russia (39 points) and first place Canada (45 points).
Team USA has a chance at a medal provided that it can stay strong in the final three team events. As of this writing the athletes competing in the final events have not been announced. Rounding out the five countries competing for a team medal are Italy (4th place, 35 points) and Japan (5th place, 32 points). It’s a very close competition, one where solid performances in the men’s and women’s free skate and ice dance free skate could shake up the scoreboard entirely.
Team USA’s Nathan Chen had a disappointing Olympics debut, where he found himself in 4th place behind Japan, Israel and Canada. Chen’s routine was good for seven points in the team event which, coupled with the pairs’ short program score of seven points, combined for 14 points and put the United States in 2nd place overall behind Team Canada at the end of the first night.
