The women take the ice in the final events of the 2018 Winter Olympics figure skating team event in the women’s team free skate event. The final events of the team competition also includes the men’s free skate and the ice dance free skate. Medals will be awarded at the conclusion of the last events of the program.
After the second night of the team event, Team USA slipped from 2nd place to 3rd place with 36 points behind Olympic Athletes from Russia (39 points) and 1st place Canada (45 points). Rounding out the five countries competing for a team medal are Italy (4th place, 35 points) and Japan (5th place, 32 points).
The athletes for the final team events have not been announced as of this writing, so it’s not clear if Bradie Tennell will skate again in the women’s team free skate or if one of her teammates, either Mirai Nagasu or Karen Chen, will appear in the event.
Tennell had a stellar debut at her first Olympics, scoring a 68.94 for a 5th place finish, just .01 behind Japan’s 68.95. Her performance no doubt eased any and all nerves she had ahead of her first appearance on Olympic ice.
