Winter Olympics, Figure Skating Team Event medal results, highlights and more
After three days of competition, the 2018 Winter Olympics team medals were handed out. While Team Canada remained strong throughout, there were some changes in the order of finish.
The first medal event in the 2018 Winter Olympics figure skating competition arrived with the team event medals.
Team Canada remained at the top of the team medal race throughout the three day competition. The battle for the silver and bronze medals came between Olympic Athletes from Russia and Team USA, who fought hard to maintain their leads. Ultimately, however, it was Olympic Athletes from Russia who delivered a 2nd place finish. Team USA ended up with a bronze medal in the team figure skating event.

Italy had a chance to claim the bronze medal and knock the United States from the podium but it was not to be. Japan remained at the bottom of the pack almost the entire way through the event.
Here are the final results of the 2018 Winter Olympics team event:
- Canada – 73 points
- Olympic Athletes from Russia – 66
- United States – 62
- Italy – 56
- Japan – 50
The United States had a strong showing at the team event. Here’s the breakdown of Team USA’s performance in the team event:
- Men’s Short Program: Nathan Chen, 4th place
- Pairs’ Short Program: Alexa Scimeca Knierim and Chris Knierim, 4th place
- Short Dance: Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani, 2nd place
- Women’s Short Program: Bradie Tennell, 5th place
- Pairs’ Free Skate: Alexa Scimeca Knierim ad Chris KNierim, 4th place
- Men’s Free Skate: Adam Rippon, 3rd place
- Women’s Free Skate: Mirai Nagasu, 2nd place
- Free Dance: Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani, 2nd place
With several members of Team USA making their first appearance in an Olympics event, a bronze medal finish is a huge accomplishment given the high level of competition. The biggest highlight of the team event for Team USA has to be Mirai Nagasu’s triple axel in the women’s free skate. Nagasu becomes the third woman, and first woman from the United States, to ever land a triple axel in Olympics competition.
