Will Danica Patrick be racing in the 2018 Daytona 500 on Sunday?

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season is finally back, and it kicks off with the 2018 Daytona 500 this Sunday. It’s the rare sport where the biggest event of the year kicks things off to set the tone for the entire season. Legends have made their name at the illustrious track. It will be a different look this year for the race, with Dale Earnhardt Jr. being retired and the finale for Danica Patrick.

Patrick will indeed be racing in this year’s event. This will be her final time behind the wheel in NASCAR, and she will racing the Premium Motorsports No. 7 Chevy Camaro ZL 1. Being able to land a ride will allow her to go out on the biggest stage of the year.

The final race for Patrick’s career will be the Indy 500 in May. As a pioneer for women in the sport, Patrick has accomplished several feats. One of those was becoming the first woman ever to capture the pole for the Daytona 500.

Now, she’ll get one more run at Daytona and a chance to put together a strong run in her NASCAR finale. With a lot of drivers retiring or leaving over recent years, the cup series is seeing plenty of new faces take over.

Patrick is one of those departing faces that carried a big fan base with her. When it comes to choosing a race to go out on, there isn’t a better choice than the Daytona 500, and then, ultimately, the Indy 500 in the IRL.
