Germany’s Laura Dahlmeier takes home her second gold medal in the biathlon in the 2018 Pyeongchang Games. Here are the results for the women’s 10km pursuit.

Well, it looks like somebody is dominating the biathlon in the 2018 Pyeongchang Games on the women’s side. Germany’s Laura Dahlmeier has taken home her second gold medal in as many chances in these Winter Olympics. She won the women’s 10km pursuit on Monday night in Pyeongchang with a time of 30 minutes and 35.3 seconds with only one penalty.

Taking home the silver medal in the women’s 10km pursuit was Slovakia’s Anastasiya Kuzmina. She had a time of 31 minutes and 4.7 seconds, with four missed targets, one prone and three standing. This is Kuzmina’s fourth medal in her Olympic career. She took home the gold in the sprint and a silver in the pursuit in the 2010 Vancouver Games, as well as another gold medal in the sprint in the 2014 Sochi Games.

Earning the bronze medal for France was Anais Bescond. She had a time of 31 minutes and 4.9 seconds in the women’s 10km pursuit with one penalty. This the first Olympic medal of her career. While she did participate in the 2014 Sochi Games, like Dahlmeier, Bescond did not make it to the podium in Russia four years ago.

Here are the results from the women’s 10km pursuit in the 2018 Pyeongchang Games.

Looking at the top-10 finishers, Kuzmina had four penalties, but managed to earn a silver medal, while Norway’s Tiril Eckhoff had five penalties in her ninth-place finish.

As for the United States in the women’s 10km pursuit, the only Olympian to compete in this event was Emily Dreissigacker. She finished 47th out of 60 competitors with a time of 35 minutes and 36.7 seconds. Dreissigacker had four misses on the shooting portion, one prone and three standing.

As Dahlmeier continues to dominate in the women’s biathlon, the United States women have struggled to keep pace with the pack. Maybe America is more of a distance sort of biathlon group or this just may not be the country’s Winter Olympic sport? The biathletes will be off Tuesday. Look forward to more biathlon action on Wednesday at the Alpensia Biathlon Centre.
