9. Antwerp Olympics, 1920

This Olympics should not even count, which is why it’s lower on the list. It took place during the Summer Olympics and gave the NHL the fuel needed to put two franchise in Florida.

There were seven countries in the tournament. France and Belgium represented two of those countries. The Team USA website doesn’t officially recognize either of them, meaning there were only five countries in the tournament. This is just a bad job by the Team USA website. They add countries to make their silver medal look more impressive, no subtract.

Every game in this tournament was a shutout for the United States. A 29-0 victory over Switzerland, a 2-0 loss to Canada, a 7-0 win over Sweden, and a 16-0 win against Czechoslovakia.

Needless to say, this wasn’t an impressive tournament. Tony Conry had 14 goals in the four games.

USA should not count this silver medal as part of their Olympic history. Only gold should have been awarded in this Olympics. Team USA benefitted from the weakest competition in Olympic history and even tried to bamboozle the Canadians by having the games take place in the summer.

You have to respect the hustle of Team USA to come up with a fraud silver medal, but I see right through it.

The Olympic committee smartened up after this tournament. And by “smartened up” I mean, “realized they could make a lot more money by coming up with the Winter Olympics.”
