Watch American Heather Bergsma compete for a medal in the women’s 1000m in Olympic speedskating. Here’s how to live stream.
It’s an early start for speedskating fans looking to watch the women’s 1000m final live and online Coverage begins at 4:30 a.m. ET, according to NBC, and the races will start at 5 a.m. ET. (Of course, that’s the prime time of 7 p.m. KT for fans who made the trek to South Korea. But live streams make it easy watch online in the comfort of your own bed!
NBC is the exclusive broadcast partner of the Olympics, and the 2018 Pyeongchang Games will air across NBC’s various channels: USA, CNBC, NBCSN and so on. The games will also live stream online, on the NBC Olympics site, as well as through subscription services like FuboTV that provide access to NBC and other network channels for cord-cutters without cable deals. (FuboTV offers free trials — it’s up to you whether you want to cash that in for Olympic speedskating.)
Shockingly, the Netherlands is not expected to place in the women’s 1000m — if you’ve been paying attention to speedskating odds, you know the Dutch are crazy dominant on the speedskating track. Japan’s Nao Kodaira is the gold medal favorite, with compatriot Miho Takagi expected to snag silver. American Hearth Bergsma is the Sports Illustrated pick for bronze, one of the few predicted podium spots for Team USA.
(Fun fact: Bergsma is married to Jorrit Bergsma, a Dutchman expected to win silver in the 10,000-meter. They have combined for 23 world medals. It always comes back to the Netherlands in speedskating.)
