Here are all the athletes that won medals on Tuesday, February 13th at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
It’s been a slow burn for Team USA in collecting medals in South Korea. Red Gerard was the first American to medal and used the snowboarding competition to do it. Chloe Kim went a similar route, as the United States owes two of its most impressive gold medals to a pair of teenagers.
Kim, who came to the Winter Olympics a rising star, has catapulted herself into stardom after winning gold in the Women’s Halfpipe event. Many expected her to be among the best athletes at the Games, but her meteoric rise has now established the next great American snowboarder, with comparisons already being drawn to Shaun White.
White also competed on Tuesday, but the Men’s Halfpipe is only in the qualifying stage. He was, as expected, phenomenal. Both Kim and White turning in fantastic performances in Pyeongchang helps define the depth of talent in the snowboarding competition and how bright the future is.
Here’s a look at the total medal count, with Norway still holding a slim lead over the Netherlands.
