Here’s how you can watch the longest event in Olympic men’s speedskating — the 10,000-meter race — online and by live stream.
The 10,000-meter men’s speedskating race is the longest distance in Olympic speedskating and, unsurprisingly, is dominated by the Dutch. The Netherlands are expected to win both gold and silver in the 10,000-meter (Sven Kramer and Jorrit Bergsma, respectively), with Germany going for bronze with Patrick Beckert. Kramer holds the world record, but he came in second and lost the gold medal to Bergsma in Sochi 2014.
There are no Americans competing in the 10,000 — unfortunately, no U.S. men qualified — but you can still tune in to marvel at the wild fast competition. And you can watch online courtesy of the NBC live stream.
NBC has exclusive rights to broadcast the 2018 Winter Olympics, which it will air across its multiple channels: NBC, CNBC, NBCSN and USA. But all the cord-cutters out there — and everyone not waiting around for whatever TV schedule NBC has crafters — can live stream the games, including the 10,000m men’s speedskating race. If you don’t have an NBC cable log-in at your disposable, you can stream the NBC channels through a service like FuboTV.
The 10,000-meter race takes place at 8 p.m. in Pyeongchang, which is 6 a.m. ET. On the grand scale of sports screwed by the time change, the early morning slot is pretty reasonable. (Short track fans have it much, more worse.) NBC advertises their broadcast as starting at 5:30 a.m. ET, if you want to wake up early to get all that speedskating pre-game action.
