When will the women’s hockey gold medal game be during the Winter Olympics 2018?

For a variety of reasons, women’s hockey will finally be getting the respect it deserves at the Winter Olympics 2018. The biggest one? NHL players not playing in the Olympics. This means the men’s hockey rosters aren’t going to be nearly as impressive. The best hockey players in the world won’t be in South Korea. However, the best women’s players will be.

Naturally, everyone wants to know when the gold medal game will be. If you’re a betting person, I’d recommend betting it will be between the United States and Canada. That has been the gold medal game in the 1998, 2002, 2010, and 2014 Olympics. It took a minor miracle in 2006 for Sweden to beat the United States.

At the Winter Olympics 2018, the gold medal game will be held on Feb. 22, starting at 7:10 a.m. ET. Yes, you will have to wake up mighty early to watch it live. But if the history of the United States and Canada has told us anything, it’s that women’s games between the two are must-watch television.

America has only come out on top once during the Olympics. That was in 1998, the inaugural year for women’s hockey at the Winter Olympics. Canada got the gold medal in 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014. However, the United States has been especially dominant as of late, namely in the World Championships. So this could be the Olympics where America asserts its dominance.

Next: Best hockey player from each state

Regardless of the income, assuming the gold medal game is between the United States and Canada, you’ll want to watch. It will be hockey in the purest sense. Two teams who outright loathe each other. Both teams are very familiar with the other. There will be no surprises. Just two teams featuring the most talented ladies in the world squaring off for their country.
