One of the greatest traditions in college football continued today with a special wave to the Iowa Children’s Hospital.

Forget about all the great games, individual performances and stunning upsets from college football last season. The best story to come out of the entire season was the touching gesture by Iowa football fans to wave toward the new children’s hospital from the stands.

It’s enough to give you chills just thinking about, but if you watch this special feature from Tom Rinaldi on the significance of the wave and what it means for the people on the receiving end of the wave, you’ll most definitely be reduced to a puddle of tears.

College football prides itself on traditions and this tradition, while certainly very new, should be the new favorite by everyone, including those who aren’t die-hard fans of the sport, or even rivals of Iowa. There’s nothing to knock about this. And it’s going to continue moving forward and there was even a special wave today.

After a recent snowstorm that hit Iowa City, there was a deluge of snow to clear out of Kinnick Stadium, but that snow was used to make an incredibly touching gesture with a snow wave to the Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

Isn’t that just the greatest thing you’ve seen in a long time? I tell ya what, it certainly made my heart smile on a day we could all use a little reminder that there is still plenty of good in this world.

I don’t know how much the grounds crew makes, but I can tell you, they are all deserving of a special bonus for this gesture that will never be forgotten by the children in the hospital and their family members, not to mention the nurses, doctors and all the hospital workers and administrators.
