Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux announce they’ve separated

After two and half years of marriage, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux are separating.

In a statement sent to the Associated Press, the couple that made the decision “lovingly at the end of the year”. As a way to bypass the speculation that Hollywood brings, the couple decided to come out by themselves as quickly as they could.

Aniston and Theroux got engaged in 2012 and married three years later. They said that they want to continue their friendship, but that’s all they feel they have currently, leading to their decision and reason to part as a romantic couple. They still went on their annual New Years vacation at Cabo San Lucas.

The question of whether or not the two were separating have been on people’s minds for awhile as they’ve noticed the separation. Last year, Theroux spent much of the time in New York City, away from their Los Angeles home. More reasons popped up over the past few days when Aniston celebrated at Ellen Degeneres’ birthday party alone, as well at Aniston’s own party where Theroux was conspicuously absent.

Aniston and Theroux met in 2008 and began dating in 2011. They married in secret on Aug. 5, 2015, right before Theroux’s 44th birthday. Their work schedule had been keeping them apart, according to PEOPLE.

According to The AP, the couple also had no plans to be together for Valentine’s Day, which was admitted in an interview for Mute, a Netflix movie staring Theroux that premieres on Feb. 23. Aniston is currently on the cover of Architectural Digest and is writing about her life in Hollywood.
