What’s the equivalent of a quadruple lutz in other sports?

3. Walk-off missed field goal touchdown return

Football is a game of many plays. So it’s rare to see a singular play happen that’s as unforgettable and special as landing a quadruple lutz. A touchdown return of any kind is pretty darn exciting. It usually involves a player who normally is never in a position to get into the end zone getting into the end zone. Usually, the end result includes a lineman looking as happy as a kid in a candy store.

How do you crank up the excitement and rarity? What about a missed field goal returned for a touchdown on the last play of the game? Yes, I’m talking about the Kick Six.

Chris Davis will never have to buy a drink again because of this play. Even Alabama Crimson Tide fans have to admit this is about as good it gets for football. This is the kind of play Auburn fans will never forget watching. They’ll never forget where they watched it either.

This has happened in the NFL at least once. The Denver Broncos returned a blocked field goal 60 years for a touchdown in overtime back in 1985. More recently, the Cleveland Browns lost to the Baltimore Ravens on a similar play, proving their ability to lose games should never be doubted. It’s hard to think any football play is as rare and special as a missed field goal returned for a touchdown, though.
