Here is everything you need to know to watch the first two runs of the women’s skeleton at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
The women’s skeleton is the second of just two medal events in the 2018 Winter Olympics. Like the men’s event, the women compete in four runs over two days and the fastest cumulative time of all the trips down the icy chute determines the medalists. Unlike the luge, men and women in skeleton compete on the same length track.
NBC’s website doesn’t provide details for the live broadcast of the first two women’s runs. At 9:30 a.m. ET on NBC Sports Network, the network will be airing a mix of skeleton, speed skating, ski jumping and curling. This presumably would be tape-delayed coverage of the women’s runs in skeleton.
The runs will be streamed live on NBC Sports Live at 6:20 a.m. ET, the second runs will begin at 7:30 a.m. ET.
The United States sent two women to compete at the 2018 Winter Olympics, Katie Uhlaender and Kendall Wesenberg. Uhlaender is competing in her fourth Olympics while Wesenberg is competing in her first. Uhlaender is about to unceremoniously win her first Olympic medal, a bronze from Sochi. Uhlaender finished fourth but bronze medalist Elena Nikitina of Russia was stripped for doping as part of the investigation that led to Russia being banned for the 2018 Winter Games.
Uhlaender will be the United States’ favorite to challenge for a medal in Pyeongchang, but don’t count out Wesenberg.
