Here’s what happened during sessions 7 and 8 of the men’s curling tournament at the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics.

We’re more than halfway through the round robin portion of the men’s Olympic curling tournament and curling fans are getting a clear sense of which teams have a shot at making the semifinals. Canada is, of course, a lock.

Team USA, at bronze medal favorite, remains in the mix as well. However, the United States has suffered back-to-back losses with three games to go in round robin play.

On Feb. 18 in South Korea, the men played two sessions — 7 and 8, at 7 p.m. ET Feb. 17 and 6 a.m ET Feb. 18, respectively. Here are the results and highlights of those sessions.

Round robin session 7

Norway 10, Denmark 8

Norway got a big lead midway through the session and Denmark could never catch up. After six frames, Norway had a 9-3 lead and Denmark couldn’t catch up despite a late surge that was threatening.

USA 2, Japan 8

Japan took the lead early and Team USA never stood a chance to catch up.

Switzerland 8, Canada 6

Switzerland jumped out to a 4-0 lead and Canada spent the rest of the game trying to catch their opponents.

Round robin session 8

Sweden 11, Japan 4

In the most dominant performance of session 8, Sweden put a 3-0 lead on the board in the first end, putting Japan on the defensive. By the eighth end, it was all over when Sweden put up five, compared to Japan’s zero. Japan conceded the ninth and tenth ends.

Denmark 9, Korea 8

This games was close all the way through, but Denmark finally edged Korea in the 11th end. Korea got off to a strong start, putting up a 2-0 lead after the first end, but Denmark got on the board in three consecutive ends (2, 1, 2) to work its way back and overtake its opponent.

Italy 6, Great Britain 7

Another nail-biter, this time the team that got on the board first managed to keep the upper hand. Great Britain put up two in the first end, and though Italy tied things up in the sixth end, Great Britain prevailed in the end.

USA 5, Norway 8

USA curling lost a heartbreaker to Norway despite getting on the board first in the first end. The United States led in the third end 3-2 and then again in the fifth end 4-3, but ultimately USA’s John Shuster failed on the double take-out.

The top four teams in the standings will advance to the semifinals.
