Evvie McKinney is the winner of The Four: Battle for Stardom’s inaugural season and iHeartRadio’s “On the Verge” artist grand prize.
Memphis’ own Evvie McKinney is the winner of The Four: Battle for Stardom’s vocal competition at the young age of 20. McKinney managed to stave off challenges from show favorite Zhavia and a returning Candice Boyd to win season 1 after making her first appearance in Week 5. Boyd was the runner-up. McKinney performed Common and John Legend’s “Glory”, Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine”, and Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary” on the season finale.
The final competing performances were McKinney’s “Glory” against Boyd’s “Stay” (Rihanna). Zhavia’s last performance against McKinney was Rihanna’s “Man Down” vs McKinney’s performance of Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine”. Candice Boyd had performed Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing” against Vincint Cannady’s performance of Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven” to advance.
The series has already announced they will return for a season 2 this summer.

Season 2 of The Four: Battle for Stardom will arrive in the summer, meaning there’s plenty of time left to audition for a career of a lifetime. Want to showcase your top tier talent to the world? Here’s your chance, the show is auditioning for season 2 performers and you can apply at this link. You must be 16 years of age or older to apply and be a United States resident.
The Four’s official website invites fans to film their own singing performances to publish on social media. You just might be the next Evvie McKinney in the making. Simply post the video of you singing with the hashtag #TheFourChallenge. Current featured singers being voted on the front page used the hashtag on Twitter and Instagram.
