The latest medal winners have gotten their hardware and here is how the 2018 Winter Olympics medal count stands after Saturday, February 17.
Norway’s lead in the 2018 Winter Olympics medal count is getting out of hand, and they could be out of reach. With a little over a week left in the Winter Olympics, Norway has extended its medal total to 21, five more than second-place Germany.
The Norwegian team won gold in ladies’ 4 x 5km cross-country skiing relay, extending their gold medal total to seven, still two behind Germany. Tiril Eckhoff won bronze for Norway in the women’s 12.5km mass start biathlon.
Germany added just a single medal, the silver in women’s skeleton.
Team USA won a single medal on Saturday, John-Henry Krueger winning silver in men’s 1,000m short track speed skating. Team USA has nine medals, tied for fifth with Japan, Austria and the Olympic Athletes from Russia.
Japan had a big day, winning gold and silver in men’s single figure skating.
Perhaps no country had a bigger day than Great Britain, nabbing three medals on the day including gold and bronze in women’s skeleton.
