James Bond: 8 Actors who would make great Bond villains part 2
Which actors would make great James Bond villains who haven’t had a chance yet? Here are some people that Eye on Bond would make great Bond villains.
With the wait between further James Bond news, now’s a good time to talk about eight performers with the X-factor needed make great Bond villains. To be part of this list, you must not have been the big bad in a James Bond film before. You can read through eyeondbond’s previous choices here.
Ewan McGregor
Hear me out here. Ewan McGregor is charming and conventionally handsome enough to be the mogul that Bond usually faces off against. I’ve long contended that he was the best human thing about Star Wars’ Anakin prequels. There, he got to participate in grueling lightsaber fights. I’m sure he could train himself up to a similar level again.
Even more importantly, McGregor is often thought of as a kindly teacher/father figure. Making him a mastermind would be brilliantly subversive. It would give a charge to any onscreen villainy he did, because it would run counter audience’s association of him with Ben Kenobi.

Iwan Rheon
On the other hand, here’s a pick that plays right into audience association. Iwan is most famous for being Ramsey Bolton on Game of Thrones. You know, the Ramsey who was probably the most sadistic character in a show full of awful people.
He’s good at projecting psychotic menace. Just as importantly, he’s equally good at portraying a sense of wounded inadequacy. He would do a great job of playing a villain who is both scary and needy. (Think Elliot Carver in Tomorrow Never Dies, or Dominc Greene in Quantum of Solace).
Michael Fassbender
Michael Fassbender himself thinks he’s too old to play James Bond. I can see what he’s getting at. He’s 41 this year. If he took over James Bond, the earliest year he would be shooting would be 2020.
However, just because you don’t play James Bond doesn’t mean you can’t be in a 007 movie. I’ve previously written that he would make a great villain if he can’t play Bond himself. I can very easily picture Fassbender as both a physical and mental nemesis like Sean Bean in Goldeneye. Age is less of a factor if it’s only a one film commitment.
Charlize Theron
Last year, some people suggested making Charlize Theron the next James Bond. If you’re going to make James Bond a woman, she’s a great choice.

However, if you want her to be Bond villainess, she’s definitely got the stuff. Her portrayal as Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road is enough to make her an all-time great action heroine. She’s already played spies to, whether in dystopian sci-fi futures (Aeon Flux) or Cold War Era Berlin (Atomic Blonde). She’s even been the bad girl in Fate of the Furious.
Next: Ranked: James Bond meets the villain
It’s just a question of if the Bond franchise would write a juicy antagonist role for her. If they did, she’d be great.
